Do I REALLY need to hire a professional wedding photographer for my wedding?
Couldn’t a friend just do it for me? It seems like everybody is a photographer these days – why should I pay so much for a professional wedding photographer?
More than ever before photographers are being faced with a tough fact: the camera alone cannot save you anymore. Nowadays the phone in your pocket has a better quality camera than the pros could ever imaging 50 years ago!
10 years ago when DSLR’s were just starting to emerge, this would have been unthinkable. Your parents probably hired a photographer for 2 simple reasons:
- Everyone else they knew hired one
- No one else they knew had a professional camera, or the skill to use it.
It used to be that taking great photos was incredibly technical. You couldn’t Preview the image on your LCD screen the way modern cameras do today. In order to take a good photograph, the photographer had to intuitively know the correct Aperture, Shutter Speed and ISO for an image. They also had to precisely focus the subject in the frame MANUALLY (oh autofocus, how we take thee for granted!)
But with Canon Rebels and t4i’s now available for five hundred bucks at Costco, and automatic modes that calculate exact exposures and perfect focus, is the era of the professional photographer over? Do I still need a photographer at my wedding, or will my friends iphone 5 do the job?
Although I’d love to save you money on your wedding day – Its our opinion at Tailored Fit Photography that a Professional Photography Studio is still an irreplaceable part of capturing your wedding the way it deserves.
To Get Straight to the Point, when I get married, here’s why I NEED a professional photographer for my wedding:
A great photographer and a great camera are two completely different things.
Yes, your friends new iphone is CAPABLE of taking amazing photographs – but the number one factor in capturing an amazing moment on film is not the camera, but the person behind it.
A great photographer sees the photo in his minds eye before he even picks up his camera.
Not only that, but a great photographer catches the moment!
We’ve all seen amazing photos taken with old iphones and even disposable cameras. The reason for the power of an image is determined by the emotion that is captured in it – and the story it tells.
Photographers are storytellers.
At Tailored Fit Photography, we aren’t just capturing WHAT happened at your wedding – we want to capture the emotion behind it. How you felt, what you were thinking, all of the different emotions of the day represented in a beautifully hand crafted album.
Another huge factor in any photographs impact is the light.
The best photographers know how to seek out and see great light. They know where to place you so that your best features are brought out, and your not so great ones are minimized.
Great photographers know how to bring out your personality.
They know how to make you feel comfortable and how to take amazing photographs without taking away from your special day.
And perhaps most of all – a professional photographer guarantees great results.
They know what they’re doing. There aren’t going to be any surprises. They won’t show up late, or lose your photos, or miss the moments – their experience is invaluable and irreplaceable.
And remember, Great photographs don’t end at the camera.
A professional photographer can edit your images until they are stunning – fix out of place hairs, closed eyes, slim arms, and bring out the best of your images. Plus they’ll hand craft an album that will stand the test of time and create art for your home that you will have for generations. There are some great DIY albums out there – but they can’t compete with the artistic knowledge and editing of a gifted photographer, presented on archival matte paper with thick lay-flat pages and gorgeous hand-made leather covers :)
So is a wedding photographer really necessary?
Do you NEED to pay for a wedding photographer? Is a professional wedding photographer worth it? Should I spend the money to hire a professional photographer for my wedding?
If you pick the right one – they are irreplaceable. We can guarantee that of all the things you could spend a little extra on when planning your wedding, the photography is one you will never regret!
